René Sampaio’s debut feature film, Brazilian Western, brought over 1.5M spectators to theaters, wining seven categories in the Brazilian Academy Awards, including Best Fiction Film. Selected for the official screening of the Toronto International Film Festival, Shanghai, among others, he also received the Special Jury Prize at the Dallas Festival.
For TV, he co-produced and co-directed the crime drama Impuros for FOX Premium (2018), the second most streamed series on the platform in Latin America and is shooting the second season. He directed the telefilm Love Squared and co-directed the television thriller Dupla Identidade both for Rede Globo. Partner of Barry Company and graduated in communication by UnB, he is in post-production of his new feature film, Eduardo and Monica, starring Alice Braga and Gabriel Leone, scheduled to premiere in 2019.
