Lily Erlinger was born in 1988 and grew up in Germany, America and Australia. She received her Bachelor of Arts from Harvard University in 2010 where she concentrated in Visual and Environmental Studies. After several internships in New York, she returned to Germany to study fiction directing at the Filmakademie Baden-Württemberg where she graduated in 2018.
Erlinger’s portfolio includes short films, documentaries, music videos, animation and image films. Because We Dreamt of Flying is her first feature film, which she wrote, directed and shot. Whether whilst writing, photographing or directing, Erlinger’s work focuses on exploring human depths and coaxing the invisible to the surface.
Erlinger is a guest curator of the 2019 Miami Film Festival through a mentorship program sponsored by YoungArts.
