McLorin Salvant

Cécile McLorin Salvant is a renowned jazz vocalist from Miami, Florida. She is known the world over for her incredible talent and work, winning the prestigious Thelonious Monk International Jazz Competition in 2010 only a year after releasing her first album, “Cécile” (2009). Since then, she has put forward four other records, and won a slew of Grammy Awards for all the exquisite work she has released in the last decade: “WomanChild” (2013), “For One To Love” (2015), “Dreams and Daggers” (2017), and her latest, “The Window” (2018), an album of duets with the great pianist Sullivan Foster. Miami Film Festival is overjoyed to have her as a guest at this year’s Festival, accompanying Dennis Scholl’s and Marlon Johnson’s spectacular documentary about her life and work, Singular, with a live performance on one of Miami’s most emblematic stages, the Olympia Theater.
