**OPENING NIGHT FILM, KNIGHT MADE IN MIA AWARD COMPETITION – SHORT FILM**


Milagros (Loggy) and Alex have been best friends and neighbors their entire lives in the Pork n Beans. Loggy detaches when she learns that Alex has kept secret she’s being displaced and relocated to another community. The two are chosen to dance together at Liberty Square’s groundbreaking ceremony but their plans are derailed when the memorial of Milagros’ mother is confiscated. Their bond is tested as they search for its whereabouts.

Shot in location in Liberty Square, the protagonists of “Liberty” risk drifting apart as their neighborhood undergoes drastic changes caused by redevelopment.

Faren Humes

Faren Humes is a writer and director from Miami. Her work has received honors from the Directors Guild of America and the Academy of Television Arts & Sciences. In 2016 she received the Sundance Institute’s Knight Foundation Fellowship. Her short films include “Nasir” (2010), “Our Rhineland” (2011) and “Macho” (2016). “Liberty” (2018) is her latest short film.
